I enjoy all the elements of this shot;the red line, his shadow, pattern on the wall, subtlety of highlight and shadow on his face and his manner all add up to make a very good portrait.
you changed it to low saturation! the skin tone is look better in low saturation but i really love the color in this shot. push the wall to white? high saturation of yellow and red? contrast of the shadow? maybe, want to see what will look like in stronger color.
it does looks like two different images, a portrait and a 2d graphic. but i find the red line is abit too distracting for a portraiture, which u want to see more of the person. its just my personal opinion.. :)

I like how it almost looks like two different images: a portrait together with 2D graphics of the line and shadow.
